Cadillac Plans to Take Over the Limo Market from the Lincoln Town Car with its New XTS

General Motors has revealed new details on its plans for the limousine variants of the 2013 Cadillac XTS, which made its world premiere at last year's Los Angeles Auto Show.

The XTS will replace the DTS sedan not only in the passenger car market but will also take its place in Cadillac's professional vehicle lineup.

At the upcoming 28th Annual International Limousine, Charter and Tour Show that takes place February 13-15 at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Cadillac will unveil the XTS "W20 Livery Sedan Package" for professional use, which from what we understand, will retain the regular XTS' wheelbase length.

However, GM said it is currently working on two more versions of the XTS, the extended sedan and limousine, which Cadillac Master Coachbuilder (CMC) licensed manufacturers can build for the chauffeured transportation market by the end of the year.

Johnny Walker's Very, Very Long Promotional Audi Q7 Limousine

For some reason unknown to us, the Audi Q7 SUV has become an increasingly popular choice amongst stretch-limousine builders and promoters alike – especially after the demise of General Motors' Hummer brand.

You can find insanely stretched Q7s anywhere from the glamorous and glitzy Las Vegas Strip to the peaceful and scenic Greek coastal town of Nafpaktos, where these pictures were shot by Carscoop reader Christos P.

Video: Volvo…960…Stretch…Limousine…Slow…Burn…Out

A Volvo and especially a 960 that has been transformed into a stretch limousine is a very unlikely candidate for a wild burnout. And true enough, as you can see in the video clip after the break, it's like watching the entire scene in slow moooooootion…

It Came From eBay Hell: Maserati Quattroporte Limo

The current generation Maserati Quattroporte measures 200 inches (5,080 mm) bumper to bumper. Why anyone would think such a car needed any more length, let alone 140 inches (3,556 mm) of it, is beyond me but here we are.

This Maserati Quattroporte Limo was found for sale on eBay and comes complete with Silver Pearl paint, seating for 10, three TV’s and...wait for it...illuminated champagne holders!

I haven’t been this excited about a limousine since that airport limo funeral car a few weeks back.

It Came From eBay Hell: 2006 Excalibur Limousine

Cruella de Vil, your car has arrived. This 2006 Excalibur limousine was once a scanty 2000 Lincoln Town Car Signature Edition and challenges the notion that anything would be better than the latter.

It now has a front end styled like a 1930 Stutz, though this car has more in common with the hideous Stutz Blackhawk of the 1970s.

Stretch it Real Good: 2011 Chrysler 300 gets into the Limo Business

Even though Chrysler’s new 300 is being marketed as a more elegant and mature proposal than its predecessor, that doesn’t mean it won’t garner the same amount of attention from extreme tuners, rappers, professional athletes and of course, your occasional limo builder, as the previous model did.

Only a few months after it hit U.S. showrooms, and we have if not the first, at least one of the first stretch limousine transformation of the 2011 Chrysler 300.

It Came From eBay Hell: 1993 Jaguar XJ6 “Airport Limousine”

In the glory days of air travel – when you could still smoke and fly without the fear of being groped and fondled by security personnel wearing latex gloves– some passengers were lucky enough to commute from the terminal to their hotel in the back of an airport limousine.

These stretched cars, with their multiple rows of seats and doors, were essentially the primitive precursor to the modern day shuttle bus.

Sic…Lexus Becomes Official Supplier to HSH Prince of Monaco who will use an LS Hybrid for his Wedding

For those who still believe in the institution of monarchy and the legitimacy of kings, queens and royalty in general in this day and age (…some 2,500 years after the Athenians gave birth to democracy), 2011 will be marked by the royal weddings of Prince William to Catherine Middleton, and to a lesser extent, Prince Albert II of Monaco to Miss Charlene Wittstock.

If you wondering what all this has to do with the world of automobiles, Lexus’ European division announced today that it has received the royal stamp of approval from His Serene Highness [HSH] Prince Albert II of Monaco. The latter appointed the Japanese automaker as the official supplier of luxury cars to the blue-blooded residents of the Sovereign Prince of Monaco.

Lincoln Presents MKT Town Car and Limousine Editions to Replace Panther-Based Town Car

For the past 30 years, Lincoln's panther platform-based Town Car has offered its services to a great number of limousine and chauffer operators throughout the country and abroad, but production of the current model will finally come to an end this fall leaving a gap in the company's range.

But FoMoCo isn't about to let go of this financially prosperous niche segment. At the 2011 International LCT (Limousine, Charter, and Tour) show in Las Vegas, Lincoln unveiled the car's successors in the form of the chauffeur-dedicated and MKT-based Town Car Livery and Limousine editions.

It Came from eBay Hell: ‘80s VW Golf Stretch Limo with Mercedes Nose

So you want your own limousine? Sure, I can dig that. Who hasn’t thought of trading in their daily commute for something that’s chauffer driven? And what better place to start your search than on eBay, where you’re sure to find something both unique and affordable, if not exactly well built or driveable.

Here’s one such find, based on a 1981 Volkswagen Rabbit (Golf for the rest of the world) with a Mercedes-Benz nose piece. The seller’s description reveals that this vehicle has new brakes, struts, a new exhaust, new wheels and tires, new windshield and gas tank. And it still has its original motor and transmission, with a twin barrel carburettor with aluminium intake and header which the seller assures us makes it, “Fast for what it is.”
