Is this the First Privately Owned Lexus LFA to Crash?

There's always a first for everything and while sometimes that may be good, there are times you wish you weren't the one to pop the cherry (or so to speak) – like being the first private customer known to have crashed the $375,000 Lexus LFA.

There's not a lot of information going around about the incident nor can we confirm that it's the first ever privately owned LFA to crash.

However, the buffs over at Club Lexus say that this is LFA No 142 that was originally delivered in Orlando, while the folks at Lexus Enthusiast add that according to the CarFax report, the accident occurred on October 8, 2011.

Lexus LFA Roadster Appears at the D1GP Kick Off Drift Event!

This just in; we just found out that a convertible version of the Lexus LFA supercar made an unsuspected and very surprising debut at the D1GP Kick Off Drift event on the sidelines of the Tokyo Auto Salon 2012 outside the Makuhari Messe convention center.

Details remain extremely thin for now but we'll be searching for more information and pass it on as soon as we receive it. That said, we don't know yet if it's a one-off custom creation, a Lexus prototype or the first of a limited production series to be released onto the market.

The white-colored LFA convertible with the red interior featured a carbon fiber-dressed rollbar behind the front seats. It's a fully functional model as the unnamed driver demonstrated some drifting skills at the event.

More to come so stay tuned. For now, follow the jump to see the car in the video

Lexus Brings Facebook Competition Winners to Silverstone to Drive the LFA [Photos + Video]

While Ferrari is doing its best to alienate not only the brand's fans, but even its customers as well, another automaker, Lexus, did something that is extremely rare when it comes to limited-run specialty models like the LFA supercar.

And what may that be, we hear you ask? The Japanese company's British division organized a competition on its official Facebook page giving three people the opportunity to drive around the famous Silverstone track in the LFA.

The lucky winners were Jon Eliel, a freelance events director, Oliver Storry, a commercial pilot, and Tim Andrew, a professional photographer. The LFA driving event took place at Silverstone on November 2.

Watch the film from the track-packed day in the video after the break, while if you scroll further down, you'll find a comprehensive gallery that includes some pretty cool pictures.

Video: First Lexus LFA Available to the Public hits the Road Atlanta Track

The Lexus LFA has caused quite a stir among supercar aficionados. Despite its lack of pedigree that rivals sports cars from Ferrari and Lamborghini can lay claim to, it’s an incredible machine.

Then again, with a carbon fiber chassis, exotic looks and a high-revving V10 that produces 552HP with all the right sounds, that’s to be expected.

Toyota CEO Says to Company Must Build Cars that "Make People Happy"

Earlier this year, young people offered a job at Toyota were invited to the Japanese company’s test track. As they waited to be introduced to the firm's race drivers, a lone Lexus LFA drove around the track, mesmerizing them with the howling screams of its V10 engine.

No one knew who the man behind the wheel was. Only after he stepped out and formally introduced himself did they learn that it was the company’s CEO, Akio Toyoda. “I asked them if they like cars”, said Toyoda. “If they didn’t, they shouldn’t bother joining.”

When he assumed his duties in June 2009, the 55-year old grandson of Toyota’s founder said that he wanted his company to build cars that “made people happy”.

He did not know it at the time, but it was a rather unfortunate choice of words. Less than six months later, Toyota, which up to this point had built a reputation as a manufacturer of reliable cars, had to face the unintended acceleration safety issues in the U.S. that sprouted massive and costly recalls.

Say what you want about the Lexus LFA and whether or not it is worth the hefty $375k sticker price; if you're a true-blue petrol head and you were given the opportunity to get behind the LFA's wheel for a lap around a professional circuit, you'd do it in a heartbeat no matter what you thought about the car.

And that opportunity came for Carscoop reader Jean-Luc Cartwright from Britain who was able to drive the V10-powered Lexus LFA at the Silverstone racetrack in England.

This pure white example of Lexus' V10-powered supercar is located in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina and according to the owner; it has barely been used with only 66 miles (106 kilometers) on the odometer.

At the time we wrote this article, seventeen people had placed a bid for the 2012 LFA, the highest being $169,300. Given that its MRSP is/was $375,000, it's not surprising that the reserve has "not yet been met".

SCOOP: Mystery Sport Lexus LS Caught Testing on the 'Ring, Could it be the LS-F?

Lexus may not be fully embroiled in the sports car segment as the only true performance models in its range are the IS-F and the limited run LFA special, but something tells us that the Japanese firm is not yet ready to throw the towel in and let its rivals take the win.

And this, despite the fact that over the years, we have heard many rumors about the possibility of Lexus expanding its range of high-performance F-badged lineup to include the GS and the LS models, and which never came into fruition.

This brings us to our mystery Lexus LS prototype that was snagged doing the rounds on the Nürburgring racetrack in Germany. Our scoop photographers tell us that the car featured the usual testing equipment seen on other prototypes on the 'Ring.

VIDEO: Lexus LFA Meets Hot Dutch Supermodel in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition

Normally, the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition wouldn't be something that you'd read about or see on Carscoop, but being that Lexus is involved in the 2011 issue, we....couldn't leave you in the dark about the LFA's presence in the photo shoot with Dutch supermodel Rianne Ten Haken.

Now, if you're still with us and haven't used the zoom function for a closer inspection of Miss Ten Haken, in the hands of Rhys Millen, the Japanese firm's 552-HP, V10 supercar ran -in Lexus' own words- "multiple high-speed donuts around the model to create the imagery for the sizzling four-page spread."
