Refreshed and More Powerful 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Priced from $24,250*

We get our first look at the updated Hyundai Genesis Coupe for the North American market at last month's Detroit Motor Show and now the South Korean automaker has released details on pricing and specifications before it goes on sale in March.

The 2013 model continues to be available with two engine options, but the new 2.0-liter turbocharged four now produces 274-horses (+64hp) and 275 lb.-ft. (+52 lb-ft) of peak torque, while the 3.8-liter V6 gains direct-injection technology pushing output to 348-horsepower (+42hp) and 295 lb.-ft (+29 lb-ft).

Hyundai Still Thinking About Making Genesis a Separate Luxury Brand

Korean carmakers have made impressive progress in the last decade. From below-par products that were chosen by people who wanted a new car and couldn’t afford anything pricier, Hyundai and Kia models quickly become competitive in most segments.

And we're not the only ones who say this; even VW's boss is wondering why his company's products can't match Hyundai’s quality in certain areas.

No matter how good a car is, though, preconceptions die hard. For certain people, the badge on the hood says a lot about not only the car, but themselves as well; no quality survey, iPad manual, road-test review or 10-speed auto transmission is not going to change that in the foreseeable future

Hyundai Airs Four More Super Bowl XLVI Ads

The onslaught of Super Bowl commercials continues today with four more spots from Hyundai, in addition to the South Korean firm's Veloster Turbo "Cheetah" ad that we showed you earlier today.

From the new spots, the one that stands out the most for us is the "All for One", which is a 60-second commercial that will air just before the big game starts. The ad features almost 200 actual Hyundai team members humming to the sounds of "Gonna Fly Now" from the movie "Rocky, and was filmed at the brand's Montgomery plant in Alabama.

2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Makes its U.S. Debut, gets 348HP V6 and 274HP 2.0L Turbo [Videos]

It may be one of the lesser exciting premieres of the 2012 Detroit Auto Show from a readers' perspective as the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe was officially revealed in its home market last November, but that doesn't mean it's not important from a buyer's point of view.

The mid-life facelift brings several significant updates for the Genesis Coupe including new powertrains and transmissions.

Starting with the four-cylinder model, the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine gains a more precise twin-scroll turbocharger and larger intercooler boosting output to 274 horsepower and 275 lb.-ft. of peak torque on premium fuel, or 260-horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 260 lb.-ft. of torque at 2,000 rpm using regular fuel.

Big Deal Video of the Day: Hyundai Teases 2013 Genesis Coupe

Erroneously, Hyundai thinks American consumers have no idea what's going on in the rest of the (automotive) world. We beg to differ even though some may seem eager to play along with Hyundai's meaningless teasing game…

"Take a sneak peak of the 2013 Genesis Coupe being introduced at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, MI on January 9th 2012. We're very excited to share with you this sneak peak, check back next week for the full video and more footage," says Hyundai on its YouTube channel.

2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 380 GT Makes a Quick Appearance on Film

It has been a while in internet time since we last heard about the revitalized 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe – a little over a month, to be precise, when the facelifted model was introduced in its home market of South Korea.

We still don't know when and where Hyundai plans to debut the sports car in North America, although we presume it will most likely take place in one of the upcoming international motorshows like the Detroit venue in January, the Chicago Auto Show in February or the New York Auto Show in April.

Rhys Millen Steals Genesis Coupe Drift Car in a Ford F-150 from Hyundai Headquarters [Video]

Hyundai's creative division has come up with a driftaluscious short film starring Rhys Millen, his Genesis Coupe racecar and the company's soon to be demolished, old Hyundai Motor America headquarters building in Fountain Valley, California.

The South Korean carmaker tells us that the idea for the movie actually came from one of its Service Technicians, Dustin Loranger, who posed the question:

"Why not put Rhys Millen, his Genesis Coupe drift car, and our abandoned HQ together for a unique drift demonstration in a unique industrial setting?"

If you're wondering about the outcome, hop over the break to watch the 5-minute long video.

New Official Photos Plus KDM Brochure of 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe

The news just keeps dropping in on the revamped 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe after its first public appearance during the Korea Speed Festival 2011 in Yeongam, South Korea, this past weekend.

Today, we got our hands on a fresh batch of official photos plus the Korean domestic market [KDM] brochure that provides us with a few more details on the rear-wheel drive coupe's specifications, namely the acceleration figures and fuel economy numbers.

The flagship Genesis Coupe with the 350PS (345HP) 3.8-liter V6 engine completes the 0-100km/h (62mph) sprint in 5.9 seconds while returning a combined fuel efficiency (in the Korean driving cycle) of 9.6km/lt (22.6mpg US or 10.4lt/100km) with CO2 emissions of 227g/km.

Official: 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe gets New 3.8L V6 with 350PS and 2.0L Turbo with 275PS

As it turns out, there's much more than meets the eye to the facelifted Hyundai Genesis Coupe, which is slated to reach North American showrooms sometime next year as a 2013 model year.

Following the Genesis Coupe's presentation at the Korea Speed Festival 2011 in Yeongam, Korea, on Saturday, November 12, Hyundai released preliminary details on its refreshed sports car.

While our intel on the replacement of the Lambda 3.8-liter MPi with Hyundai's newer Lambda 3.8-liter GDi was correct, instead of producing 333 horsepower and a peak torque of 291 lb.-ft as it does on the revised Genesis sedan, the V6 engine with direct-injection technology was further honed and puts out 350-horses and 40.8kg.m (295 lb-ft or 400Nm).

Hyundai Publishes New Official Photos of 2013 Genesis Coupe

We're guessing that it won't be long before we get the full picture [pun intended] on the refreshed 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe as the South Korean automaker just published a fresh batch of photos of the car, this time on its Facebook page.

The three new pictures come only a couple of days after Hyundai shared two cropped images of the rear-wheel drive coupe through its Korean blog.

2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Scooped from Every Angle, New 3.8-liter V6 GDI Confirmed

Less than 24 hours after we brought you the first official images of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe, which gave us a partial sneak peak of the revamped sports car, and a whole bunch of pictures detailing the rear-wheel drive model inside and out appeared on the South Korean forum, Hankyung.

While we've already told you about the exterior updates that include the more aggressive nose that's draws on the Veloster for inspiration along with redesigned tail lamps and a reshaped boot lid at the back, these photos provide a first glimpse of the interior.

Whereas the shape of the dashboard and instrument panel remain the same, the design of the center and lower console including the infotainment screen are brand new. Hyundai has completely revamped the air-conditioning and audio systems and has added three gauges right under the radio controls.

Hyundai Offers us our First Official Look at the 2013 Genesis Coupe

Today, Hyundai's South Korean blog treated us to the first official photos of the upcoming 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe.

The most obvious changes take place up front where the Genesis Coupe obtains a new nose featuring a larger hexagonal grille split in the middle by a glossy black section, along with a different bumper, sleeker lights and a redesigned hood with air vents.

2011 SEMA: Hyundai Showcases 450HP Genesis Coupe Hurricane SC [Video]

If you found Rhys Millen's 5.0-liter V8-powered Genesis Coupe a little bit over the top, you may want to take a look at a supercharged prototype based on the V6 model that also made its debut at the Las Vegas SEMA Show.

Named the Genesis Coupe Hurricane SC, the prototype is the result of a two year development effort of Hyundai America Technical Center Inc. (HATCI) in cooperation with Magnuson Products, Rhys Millen Racing, Harman International and Torvec Inc.

“One of the many exciting aspects of this project is that the Genesis Hurricane SC is not just another pretty face for the show circuit, but rather it is a hard working lab-rat that will push the bounds of this car and the whole vehicle segment," said Terry Peddicord, director of sales at Magnuson Products.

Rhys Millen Drops a 5.0-liter V8 Under the Hood of the Genesis Coupe for the SEMA Show

So, what's missing from the Hyundai Genesis Coupe (other than a little bit of history, that is) to enable it to play in the big boys league? Why a V8 powerplant of course, and who better to make the transplant than Rhys Millen and his performance shop.

Making its world premiere today at the Las Vegas 2011 SEMA Show is the RM500 Genesis Coupe complete with Hyundai's most powerful stock engine under its hood, the 5.0-liter Tau V8.

“From the moment I saw the Tau V8 engine in the Genesis R-Spec and Equus, I knew it would be a perfect fit for the Genesis Coupe, adding even more performance and power to the dynamic coupe,” said Rhys Millen, owner, Rhys Millen Racing [RMR].

Rhys Millen Video Teases SEMA Hyundai Special but Doesn't Say What it is

Once again, Hyundai is collaborating with Rhys Millen Racing [RMR] to create a special project car for this year's edition of the Specialty Equipment Market Association show in Las Vegas.

Even though the show is less than a week away, Hyundai and Rhys Millen won't give out many details in the 40-second-long teaser video. The only valuable clue we get is a quick glimpse at a tail lamp that looks a lot like the one featured on the Genesis Coupe, but we're not 100 percent sure.

You can watch the video for yourself right after the break.

Supercharged Hyundai Genesis Coupe Hurricane to Hit SEMA Show

If one thing's for sure, Hyundai will have a strong presence at this year's edition of the SEMA aftermarket show in Las Vegas in November. The South Korean automaker, which has already shown us two Veloster tuning proposals, has now released details on another project, this time based on the Genesis Coupe V6.

The Genesis Coupe Hurricane SC was developed by Hyundai America Technical Center Inc. (HATCI) in cooperation with Magnuson Products, Rhys Millen Racing, Harman International and Torvec Inc.

Facelift 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Appears Again Undisguised

The refreshed 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe has made yet another appearance online, this time on the Hyundai-blog, showing off its redesign snout without a shred of camouflage.

As reported previously, if not all, most cosmetic changes on the facelifted version of the South Korean automaker's first rear-wheel drive coupe are concentrated on the front and rear ends.

2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Facelift Snagged without Camo

Earlier this month, we brought you some of the first spy shots of the facelifted 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe nabbed while doing the rounds on the Nürburgring racetrack. But as you'd expect, the prototype was all bagged up in black camouflage to cover the styling changes.

Now, a Gencoupe forum member posted a set of grainy cell phone pictures of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe that appear to have been shot on a transportation ship. While we can't be absolutely certain, the photos do look real and the cosmetic changes are the same we pointed out in our spy story.

SCOOP: 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Facelift Gains Styling Tweaks and More Powerful V6

Hyundai's well-received first attempt in the rear-wheel drive sports car segment, the Genesis Coupe, is up for a mid-life nip and tuck, which will be more than skin deep.

Our spies nabbed a camouflaged prototype of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe testing in and around the Nürburgring racetrack in Germany. The first thing that caught our attention on the outside is the boot lid but we’re not certain if Hyundai has redesigned the rear end or is simply trying out a new spoiler.

Hyundai Evaluating the Creation of a Separate Genesis Brand to Compete with Lexus, May Build a BMW 3-Series Rival

If you were wondering what's next on the Hyundai and Kia Group's agenda of world domination, the answer is the addition of a third brand to the firm's portfolio to compete head on with Japan's Lexus and Infiniti, and possibly even Germany's finest, including BMW and Audi.

The luxury arm would most likely be called Genesis and include the South Korean firm's current rear-wheel drive offerings such as the Genesis Sedan and Coupe, plus the soon-to-be-launched onto the American market, Lexus LS-rivaling Equus.

The automaker, which saw its U.S. market share increase by an overly impressive 50 per cent in the past two years, would further enhance the range of the Genesis brand with a compact sports saloon in the likes of BMW's best-selling model, the 3-Series, and a crossover utility vehicle to compete with the Lexus RX 350.
